Why it can be relevant
Accommodation procedures and expectations vary by destination. In some places, couples may be asked to state or confirm their relationship status before staying together. This is more likely in destinations where cultural and religious regulations influence accommodation practices and standard check-in requirements.
What ResMi Pass states
ResMi Pass links the relationship declaration to the trip by recording the destination or destinations and the relationship status being declared, such as married, cohabiting, or engaged. The document is structured so it is clear who it applies to and what is being confirmed.
What the document includes
ResMi Pass includes details for both individuals, including first and last name, date of birth, email address and phone number, as well as an identification reference such as a passport number or national ID number. Where relevant, it can also include the relationship start date.
Signatures and witness verification
The document is signed by both individuals in the relationship. Two witnesses aged 18 or over also sign to confirm that they have verified the couple’s signatures. This provides a clear record of signing and verification.
Use with accommodation providers
ResMi Pass may be presented on request to hotels, resorts, aparthotels, short-term rentals such as Airbnb, and other accommodation types where relationship information may be requested as part of standard procedures.
Traveller responsibility
Travellers are responsible for checking the rules and documentation requirements for their destination and trip, including entry requirements, stay conditions, and accommodation rules. ResMi Pass is used as supporting documentation when relationship information is requested.
